JLPT 3. PASSED. February 28, 2008

Filed under: Blabberings — amuseme @ 7:25 pm

日本語能力試験3級結果発表。。。パース!

As soon as JY notified me that he had received his JLPT4 results last night, I rushed down to the mail box and jumped in excitement when I saw a big A4 envelope lying in the mailbox.

However, to much disappointment, it was a letter and pamphlet from Sendagaya Japanese Language School in Tokyo.

Earlier on today, I was notified by another person — Shuwen again, that she had received her JLPT3 results. Aha! I couldn’t have been mistaken this round. I rushed down almost  immediately to check my mailbox once again, and… TADA! Notification received.

I’ve got 332/400 for my test, and ALMOST gotten full marks for my listening. ARGH.

I really need to brush up my grammar though. lol. 150/200.

All in all, I’m quite satisfied with my results. =)

Next major examination to come… EJU~!

My first dish. February 28, 2008

Filed under: Blabberings — amuseme @ 7:16 pm

Please do not be mistaken that I have never cooked instant noodles or boil/fry eggs in my entire lifetime. Just that this is the first time I’ve gone through the trouble of the preparation to cook, and to the actual cooking process itself.

Though I did cook when I was in Osaka(Yaki Soba), the ingredients were already prepared by the students, so all I had to do was to use my hands to fry everything together.

This was what I’ve cooked for my Dad and I for dinner last night:

Curry 2

I prepared this within 20 minutes and waited for my Dad for 4 hours to return home from work. In order to keep it warm, I store the food inside the heat insulator container:

Curry 1

When I open the lid, the fragrance of the curry was emitted almost immediately, and my Dad said:”wah, smells quite nice…(but can eat anot?)”

Then he continued to ask me questions like, “instant one right?”, “you cut the ingredients yourself or instant also?”. Don’t pray pray okay, I cut like pro chef can. HAHA.

None of us have stomache today, so I guess it was okay.

OICHII~!

Blessings in Disguise. =) February 27, 2008

Filed under: Blabberings — amuseme @ 2:42 am

I went to school this afternoon with Cassandra, to find that Uncle Johnny could not let us into the Avid Room. ARGH. However, I was quite fortunate to stay in school until Chishiho Sensei called me to ask for Chris Lim’s number, which in turn gave me a chance to participate in the Youth Forum with the Waseda Shibuya High School students later on. A blessing in disguise? This is only part 1.

Anyway, I felt so old when I was there. Not that I am the oldest, but I am considered a graduate there. All the juniors are like “senpai-ing” me, which made me felt even older. Fortunately, Chris Lim and Chris(Taiyou) came to the forum too. Blessing in disguise part 2.

After the forum, we had the chance to mingle with the Japanese students. While we were happily chatting away, the Japanese students started the topic of “do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?” which spun off a series of “why??” after I said I did not have one at the moment. Although I do not know why, in my memory to date, I was asked this same question everytime, by Japanese. When I replied “inai”, they will ask me “why?”(often followed by a “but you’re so cute!”. heh.), which in turn was a blessing in disguise too, as I get to enjoy praises. Haha.

At the end of the forum, Chrises and I had decided to go watch movie as we had too much time to burn. Therefore, we took bus no. 143 to head off to VivoCity. As we alighted at the bus stop, we strolled along the covered walk way till we were about to walk down the stairs to the subway station. THEN. Being the same old Gladys, I forgot my laptop on the bus. Fortunately(or not), I was able to think calmly then and flagged a cab to follow the bus.

Gladys:”Uncle ah! Can you follow that bus in front? I left something on the bus!”(Bus already out of sight…)

Uncle:”Okay!”

Gladys:”Uncle, do you know the bus route?”

Uncle:”I guess so.”

Luckily, we’ve found ourselves a streetwise, no, bus-wise driver, who helped us in rescuing my laptop in evil hands. Okay, though my lappy does not contain anything exciting that will land me in International Newspapers’ headlines, all my graduate works are all inside. Although it cost me quite a bit to chase after the bus, it was the biggest blessing in disguise of the day, isn’t it? =)

See! Being single can let you lead an adventurous life! Exciting yah?

My 21st Birthday. February 11, 2008

Filed under: Friends — amuseme @ 3:47 pm

I couldn’t say how grateful I am for so much love received on my Birthday party yesterday. But of course, there are some people I must really thank.

Mama and Papa: Thanks for giving birth to me on the 12th of February, 1987, so that I can breathe, walk, eat, talk and feel happiness, and will continue to do that till the end of my days.

Angelia Jiejie and Shawn Korkor: Thanks for lending me the place and sponsoring me the buffet to let me do whatever I can on my birthday(actually, two days prior to the actual day). I think the only way to repay both of you is to impart all my skills to baby Carys in the future, when she learns to talk. heh.

Kelvin korkor: Thanks for sponsoring my birthday cake. haha. and thanks for being there for me during most of my childhood days. you made me think that soft toys are alive, and i still do think so too(whenever you mimic their voices). heh.

Miss Cassandra(Eng): Top of my friend’s list! Haha. Thanks for helping me to create the honour certificate. My treasured friends loved it! So sorry you couldn’t stay for long.. I would want to take photos with you..

Mr Goh Kok Yong: Thanks for being such a wonderful coordinator, you really gave me a pleasant surprise by having sssooo many of the MJcians, whom I’ve not met for so long, coming to my party. Love ya!

Miss Koh Yang Cheng & Jazreen Elizabeth Ng: Thanks for helping me to cut the cake and clearing up the mess. Haha, I can’t live without both of you! Heh.

Miss Jocelin Tan: Although.. you lost to KokYong, hahaha, but nevertheless, you succeeded in smashing my face into my cake! Lol. Hugs.

Miss Cecilia Xiao: Thanks for helping me to pull so many YNPS friends to my 21st birthday. You know I really appreciate how I can at last meet most of them at one go. Though I will be away in Japan during your birthday, but I’ll make sure to buy you stuff from Japan yah? Heh.

Mr Lee Xianjie: Thanks for helping out to take beautiful and memorable photos during this important day of my life. Of course, I won’t forget to link you. HAHA.

Last but not least, thanks to all my friends who came to my party. If it’s possible, I will definitely want to tell you how grateful I am to each of you(and how much I like your presents.lol.). When I opened up your presents one by one, I couldn’t help but feel touched that my friends actually know what I want.

Do let me thank the people who gave me the little musical box that says: “making melody in your heart”.

It’s the closest to my heart. =)
